Live It Out

STEP 1: Humbly ACCEPT the word

James 1:21
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

James 1:22-24
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

James 1:25-26
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. STEP 2: Everyday, make time to THINK about TWO things

Then you must Connect the Two.

What is cancel culture?

Cancel culture or call-out culture is a modern form of ostracism in which someone or something is thrust out of social or professional circles – whether it be online, on social media, or in person.

What does the Bible say about cancel culture?

Matthew 10:14-15
If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

John 18:36
Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place."

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan.


I.     The Parties IN Christ

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:10‬‬

For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

II.     The Promises WITH Christ (7487 found in the Bible)

III.     The Terms LIKE Christ

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:3-4‬‬

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.


There is no more blessed way of living, than the life of faith based upon a covenant keeping God -- to know that we have no care, for He cares for us; that we need have no fear, except to fear Him; that we need have no troubles, because we have cast our burdens upon the Lord, and are conscious that He will sustain us.

GRACE is receiving undeserved favor.  RESPONSIBILITY is the expected response ability from someone who has received such undeserved grace.


I.     Be strong in the GRACE


‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:1‬‬

You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.


II.     All of God’s Covenants are covenants of GRACE


‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:1-2‬‬

Then God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.


III.     All of God’s Covenants expect human RESPONSIBILITY


‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:3-4‬‬

For what the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering, in order that the law’s requirement would be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. Satan has unleashed his power in a way perhaps unparalleled in the history of the Christian Church.  If ever there was a time we needed renewal, it is now.

In the midst of the vast problems which face our world, Christians are strangely silent and powerless, almost overwhelmed by the tides of secularism.

I.     DIAGNOSIS

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:13‬‬

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

II.     REMEDY

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14‬‬

“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.

‭‭John‬ ‭1:18‬‬

No one has ever seen God. The one and only Son, who is himself God and is at the Father’s side  — he has revealed him.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6‬‬

For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

If you want to know God personally, look into the face of Jesus!

What It Means to Be Filled With The Spirit

I.     A Promised GIFT

John 4:10

Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would ask him, and he would give you living water.”

John 4:13-14

Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up in him for eternal life.”

John 7:38

The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”

II.     A Commanded RESPONSIBILITY

Ephesians 5:18

And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:

When you are filled with the Spirit, you are filled with an overflowing supply of grace, everything you need for a good and beautiful life that pleases God.

Ephesians 4:30 (CSB)  

And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit…

Ephesians 5:18 (CSB)  

...but be filled by (Keep On Being) the Spirit:

III.     Receive ONCE and Be Filled REPEATED John 14:16-17

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you.

Believers in Jesus have two “counselors” working together on their behalf.

1 John 2:1-2

My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ the righteous one. He himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.

Jesus is our advocate in Heaven.  

The Holy Spirit is Jesus’ advocate in us.

Questions to ask yourself:

Have I given Jesus the master key to every room of my life? 

Is he my guest, or my master?

Ephesians 5:18

And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:

The Spirit bids us cease from trying to get peace by our efforts, and to come to Jesus as a sinner and rest in what He has done. As we do so, the burden of striving and self-reproach slips away from our hearts, and the Comforter whispers peace to our hearts....      We are not merely on the winning side, but on the side that has already won; we do not fight for victory but from it.

I.     His Presence in the PROTOTYPE

Exodus 25:8

“They are to make a sanctuary for me so that I may dwell among them.

Exodus 25:9

You must make it according to all that I show you — the pattern of the tabernacle as well as the pattern of all its furnishings.

Hebrews 9:24

For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands (only a model of the true one) but into heaven itself, so that he might now appear in the presence of God for us.

II.     His Presence in JESUS

John 1:1-2

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

John 1:14

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 2:18-22

So the Jews replied to him, “What sign will you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up in three days.” Therefore the Jews said, “This temple took forty-six years to build, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. So when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the statement Jesus had made.

III.     His Presence in YOU

John 16:7

Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.

1 Corinthians 3:16

Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

1 Corinthians 6:19

Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. And may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

I.     God ENDORSED Jesus PUBLICLY

Acts 2:31-32

Seeing what was to come, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah: He was not abandoned in Hades, and his flesh did not experience decay. “God has raised this Jesus; we are all witnesses of this.

Luke 12:8-9

II.     God RAISED Jesus

Luke 24:13-24

Now that same day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. Together they were discussing everything that had taken place. And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus himself came near and began to walk along with them. But they were prevented from recognizing him. Then he asked them, “What is this dispute that you’re having with each other as you are walking?” And they stopped walking and looked discouraged. The one named Cleopas answered him, “Are you the only visitor in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things that happened there in these days?” “What things?” he asked them. So they said to him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people, and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him. But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened. Moreover, some women from our group astounded us. They arrived early at the tomb, and when they didn’t find his body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn’t see him.”

I.     An accurate description is NOT ENOUGH

II.     They were still DISCOURAGED

Luke 24:17

Then he asked them, “What is this dispute that you’re having with each other as you are walking?” And they stopped walking and looked discouraged.

III.     How were their eyes opened?

Luke 24:26-27

Wasn’t it necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and enter into his glory?” Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.

Luke 24:31-32

Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, but he disappeared from their sight. They said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us while he was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?”

Their eyes were opened because Jesus opened the scriptures to them; but their eyes did not open until they pursued Him!

Luke 24:28-29

They came near the village where they were going, and he gave the impression that he was going farther. But they urged him, “Stay with us, because it’s almost evening, and now the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

Theory:  People have as much of God as they want.  If we don’t have any more of God than we have, it is not because we don’t have what we want, it is because we don’t want any more of God than we have.

Genesis 18:3

and said, “My lord, if I have found favor with you, please do not go on past your servant.

Luke 24:30-31

It was as he reclined at the table with them that he took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, but he disappeared from their sight.

1.     A LOST SHEEP

Luke 15:1-7

Many tax collectors and “sinners” came to listen to Jesus. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to complain: “Look! This man welcomes sinners and even eats with them!” Then Jesus told them this story: “Suppose one of you has 100 sheep, but he loses 1 of them. Then he will leave the other 99 sheep alone and go out and look for the lost sheep. The man will keep on searching for the lost sheep until he finds it. And when he finds it, the man is very happy. He puts it on his shoulders and goes home. He calls to his friends and neighbors and says, ‘Be happy with me because I found my lost sheep!’ In the same way, I tell you there is much joy in heaven when 1 sinner changes his heart. There is more joy for that 1 sinner than there is for 99 good people who don’t need to change.

2.     A LOST COIN

Luke 15:8-10

“Suppose a woman has ten silver coins, but she loses one of them. She will light a lamp and clean the house. She will look carefully for the coin until she finds it. And when she finds it, she will call her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Be happy with me because I have found the coin that I lost!’ In the same way, there is joy before the angels of God when 1 sinner changes his heart.”

3.     A LOST SON

Luke 15:11-32

Then Jesus said, “A man had two sons. The younger son said to his father, ‘Give me my share of the property.’ So the father divided the property between his two sons. Then the younger son gathered up all that was his and left. He traveled far away to another country. There he wasted his money in foolish living. He spent everything that he had. Soon after that, the land became very dry, and there was no rain. There was not enough food to eat anywhere in the country. The son was hungry and needed money. So he got a job with one of the citizens there. The man sent the son into the fields to feed pigs. The son was so hungry that he was willing to eat the food the pigs were eating. But no one gave him anything. The son realized that he had been very foolish. He thought, ‘All of my father’s servants have plenty of food. But I am here, almost dying with hunger. I will leave and return to my father. I’ll say to him: Father, I have sinned against God and against you. I am not good enough to be called your son. But let me be like one of your servants.’ So the son left and went to his father. “While the son was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. He felt sorry for his son. So the father ran to him, and hugged and kissed him. The son said, ‘Father, I have sinned against God and against you. I am not good enough to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Hurry! Bring the best clothes and put them on him. Also, put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get our fat calf and kill it. Then we can have a feast and celebrate! My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost, but now he is found!’ So they began to celebrate. “The older son was in the field. As he came closer to the house, he heard the sound of music and dancing. So he called to one of the servants and asked, ‘What does all this mean?’ The servant said, ‘Your brother has come back. Your father killed the fat calf to eat because your brother came home safely!’ The older son was angry and would not go in to the feast. So his father went out and begged him to come in. The son said to his father, ‘I have served you like a slave for many years! I have always obeyed your commands. But you never even killed a young goat for me to have a feast with my friends. But your other son has wasted all your money on prostitutes. Then he comes home, and you kill the fat calf for him!’ The father said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me. All that I have is yours. We had to celebrate and be happy because your brother was dead, but now he is alive. He was lost, but now he is found.’”

I.     The door is OPEN
1 Timothy 2:3-4
This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
II.     The door Is NARROW
Luke 13:22-24
He went through one town and village after another, teaching and making his way to Jerusalem. “Lord,” someone asked him, “are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because I tell you, many will try to enter and won’t be able
HEARING  → BELIEVING → LIVING → KNOWING
Luke 13:2-3
And he responded to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered these things? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.
Luke 13:5
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.”
III.     The door will be SHUT
Luke 13:25-30
“once the homeowner gets up and shuts the door. Then you will stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up for us! ’ He will answer you, ‘I don’t know you or where you’re from.’ Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you or where you’re from. Get away from me, all you evildoers!’ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth in that place, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves thrown out. They will come from east and west, from north and south, to share the banquet in the kingdom of God. Note this: Some who are last will be first, and some who are first will be last.”
