Series: I'm That Fool
Title: "I'm Defensive When Corrected"
Speaker: Doug Bridge

Proverbs 15:5
A fool despises his father's discipline, but a person who accepts correction is sensible.

Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Proverbs 15:31-33
If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise. If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.

There are GREAT BLESSINGS in LIFE when we LISTEN to CORRECTION.

Proverbs 12:1
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.

God's WORD is CLEAR and DIRECT. I don't WANT to be STUPID.

Have you completely forgotten this word of hope? It speaks to you as a father to his children. It says, "My son, think of the Lord's training as important. Do not lose hope when he corrects you. The Lord trains the one he loves. He corrects everyone he accepts as his son." (Proverbs 3:11,12)

God and HIS WORD are the ULTIMATE sources of CORRECTION and WISDOM.

Proverbs 3:13
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.

Proverbs 9:10
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

I want them to be strengthened and joined together with love. I want them to be rich in the strong belief that comes from understanding. I mean I want you to know fully God's secret truth. That truth is Christ himself. And in him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are safely kept.

James 1:5
If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He will give it to you. God gives freely to everyone and doesn't find fault.

Romans 12:16
Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!
